Check out the speakers at CareerMash’s Youth HackJam

CareerMash's Youth HackJam is taking place on Thurs, May 28th from 9am-1pm at the Mozilla Space in downtown Toronto at 366 Adelaide St. W. Suite 500. The HackJam and mini maker faire will celebrate youth, innovation and technology.

In our previous post, we covered the exhibitors that will be attending the event. This time, we’ll be covering our guest speakers. The event will showcase speakers from Ryerson DMZ, MaRS Discovery District, Science Expo and BNotions talking on innovation in the tech industry and the value of entrepreneurship.

MaRS Discovery District: Ryan Burwell

Throughout his career, Ryan has done his best to blur the lines between his roles as a teacher and entrepreneur. As a facilitator and curriculum designer at MaRS, he creates and delivers curriculum that puts entrepreneurial tools into the hands of high school teachers and students. He has always believed that the secret to innovation is the ability to learn in an innovative way, and feels very fortunate to be working at an organization that feels the same way.

Science Expo: Susie Pan

Susie Pan is a serial entrepreneur and has been selected as one of Canada’s Next 36. In grade 12, Susie founded Science Expo, a national non-for-profit that empowers over 10,000 high school students in STEM. Susie co-founded Bombe, a data processing software for scientists, before joining Blynk, a fashion app that has been featured on Techvibes and Huffington Post among other notable media. Currently, Susie manages the marketing and user acquisition at Wirkn, an app that connects and empowers youth to find jobs using dynamic profiles.

Bnotions: Mark Reale

Mark is the Technology Partner at BNOTIONS, an Innovation Company that focuses on the development of mobile, web and social products. He’s also the Co-Founder and Director at The YMC, a Community Organization with an emphasis on Technology and Digital Media.

Beyond BNOTIONS and the YMC, Mark has also spent time as a Professor of Electronic and Print Publishing at Seneca College, and Co-Founded LeanCoffeeTO - a weekly Meetup for Entrepreneurs to discuss lean methodologies and efficient business practices.

Ryerson DMZ: Justin Hein

Justin Hein is the co-founder of based out of the Digital Media Zone. FR8nex helps manufacturers manage their freight with real time reporting and automation. Justin's past experience includes: VP for the Ryerson Commerce Society, Founder of The Canadian Association of Business Students and JDC Centra ql. Justin is a TRSM graduate and he founded a money management app focused on helping young people with their cash.
